What is the Delhi Financial Assistance for Persons with Special Needs Scheme?
This scheme provides rehabilitation and meeting of day to day expenses of persons with disability.
What is the eligibility criteria to avail of this scheme?
(i) The age of the disabled persons should not be more than 60 years
(ii) Family income should not be more than Rs. 75,000 per annum from all sources
(iii) The applicant should be a resident of Delhi for at least five years prior to applying
(iv) Disability of the applicant should not be less than 40% and should be among the following impairments: blindness, low vision, loco motor disability, hearing impaired, leprosy cured, cerebral palsy, autism, mental retardation, mental illness
(v) Disability Certificate should be issued in accordance with law
(vi) The applicant should not be receiving any other assistance from any other source
What is the application process?
The applicants must attach the following to their application:
(i) A copy of bank’s passbook with the account number
(ii) Residence proof showing residence in Delhi for the last five years
(a) Aadhaar card/PAN card/passport/driving licence/voters card
(b) Supporting document for the present residential proof like voter card, electricity bill, water bill, telephone bill etc., which shows at least five years of residence in Delhi.
(c) In case there is no documentary evidence available with regard to employment, residence field staff deputed by the GRC-SK Coordinator shall record statements from two persons in the locality about the applicant, or the applicant may furnish written statement of eminent persons or organizations in the locality, such as local MP/MLA/Gazetted officers, ICDS Supervisors and Asha workers, registered Self Help Group or Mahila Mandal authorities etc.
All documents need to be attested by a gazetted officer
(iii) Proof of age
(a) Self declaration with regard to employment status and family income in the prescribed performa.
(b) The photograph of the applicant will be captured through web camera at the time of submission of application or at the time of verification. The photograph of the applicant should match with the photo on the Aadhaar card.
Any change in income/employment status of the Applicant must be notified to authorities for stoppage of the scheme.
What benefits does the scheme provide?
(i) An assistance of Rs. 1,500 per month is remitted into the bank account through ECS system of RBI.
(ii) After the age of 60, the applicant is eligible for old age pension and shall be automatically transferred without any need of any additional paperwork.
(iii) The availing of this scheme does not render an applicant ineligible for any other scheme of financial assistance available with the Department of Social Welfare or the Department of Women and Child Development.Connect with a Specialist Share your Story Register with Us Contact Us
